total volume in mL of carrier oil
—————————————————– = Number of drops of essential oil in total (2%)

Dilution:

IT CAN BE COMBINED WELL WITH THESE ESSENTIAL OILS: Lavender, Patchouli, Rose, Nerolí, Sandalwood, Jasmine, Juniper, Grapefruit or other citrus.

Concentrated substances are rarely put to direct use, and essential oils are no exception. You should almost always dilute the strength and concentration of an essential oil before applying it to the skin.
Dilution of essential oils is done by adding a drop (or more) of the essential oil in a carrier or vegetable oil, such as jojoba oil or almond oil, etc. This not only provides a good medium for the oil to absorb into the skin, but it spreads the essential oil over a larger surface area for better application.
Even those essential oils that require extreme care during direct and concentrated handling can be safely used once properly diluted. Knowing how to properly dilute essential oils is to use them safely.

Average healthy adult: 2% dilution (2 drops per teaspoon of carrier oil, 12 drops per mL)
Ideal for most adults and most situations. This is also a good dilution for daily skin care.

Temporary health problem: 3% to 10% dilution (2 to 20 drops per teaspoon of carrier oil, 12 to 120 drops per 30ml)
Best used short-term for a temporary health problem, such as a muscle injury or respiratory congestion. For an acute problem, such as a muscle cramp or severe pain, 25% may be appropriate (25 drops per teaspoon of vegetable oil, 150 drops per 30 mL).

Percent dilutions
Essential oils are highly concentrated substances and must be diluted for almost all uses. Keep oils out of the reach of children and pets. Store the oils in a dark and cool place for better preservation.

2% dilution – Ideal for most adults for most uses, including daily care.

3% dilution – Used in brief periods for temporary conditions, such as muscle injuries, respiratory congestion. Even in some cases, depending on age and physical condition, 10% could be reached (although always better under the supervision of a professional).

25% dilution – Exclusive for very specific applications, such as muscle cramps, bruises and severe pain. It should only be applied in this way with knowledge of the facts and under the instructions of a professional.

The lower the amount of essential oil in the dilution, the lower the risk of adverse reactions. One must be stingy with dilutions. Less is more.

Precautions for use:
